CATALINA ISLAND, CALIFORNIA
Travel • December, 2019
Greetings from the beautiful Catalina Island.
Visiting this little paradise has been on my travel list for quite some time. I’m so grateful that I can finally tick this marvelous destination off my list and share my experience with you.
Santa Catalina Island is located off the coast of California about 30 miles south of Long Beach, California.
It’s about an hour by boat with Catalina Express and 15 to 20 minute by Helicopter.
As you draw near the island (by air or water), you will carvel at the scenic landscape along with the dolphins’s impressive jumps in the turquoise sea. What a feast for the eyes.
Taking the local tour was an enriching experience as I discovered many historical and cultural facts about the island. Here are some examples :
Many movies were shot on the island.
Marilyn Monroe , born“ Norma Jeane Baker” lived on the island in her early teens before she became famous.
There’s only one gas station on the entire island.
It has a population of about 4000 people
Whether you want to relax on the beach, go on a bus or boat tour, dine at one of the local restaurants, explore the beachfront stores, hike trails, stay overnight or just spend the day, this little gem has so much to offer. It was a quick but fun getaway and I will definitely return.
Here are few pictures of the island and my gateway
Share your thoughts if ever visited the island or thinking of exploring it one day.
Thank you!
Nathalie, xx
