MY FAVORITE SPRING DRESSES

Fashion   •  May 7th, 2020

This is it! My first official post on my new blog is finally here. It was supposed to go live last summer, but I found out that I was expecting in early March. To be honest with you, I just wasn’t in the right state of mind for blogging yet, I really focused on taking care of myself and of my then unborn baby. Now that my angel is here, things are a little easier and I’m so happy that this day has finally arrived. I’m so excited to tag you along on this new adventure with me…OK,  with that said, let’s talk fashion!

Winter is over. Even though we’ve been having some snow falls here and there in the Rocky Mountains Region, it’s time to take out those Spring dresses from our closets. So what better time to show you my favorite ones.

The Transitional Dress

During Spring, the weather can be unpredictable which is why I like to keep a few light sweaters and coats handy just in case the weather gets a bit chilly or windy. This dress from Zara is a perfect transition piece. It’s an ideal dress because you can pair it with booties for a casual boho chic look or with high heels/stilettos for an office look. To cover up from the cold, I threw on a long camel coat to keep a consistent color palette of the dress and booties.

The 9 to Happy Hour dress

Where should I even start with this dress. This Zebra printed dress is elegant, chic and bold. It’s a great office look which transitions perfectly into a fun happy hour with the girls or date night. I styled it with a thin belt for a more polished look and to accentuate my waistline. It can be styled without a belt as well, for a loose and casual fit. This dress is a keeper for your closet, animal printed clothes are timeless, they never go out of style!

The Every Occasion Dress

This is by far one of my favorite dresses. The colors and prints are vibrant. This dress can be worn for almost any occasion. From brunch with the girls, a baby shower, a church gathering, a beach vacation or a wedding, its versatility is endless!  Wear it with flat, sandals or high heels, you can’t go wrong. The sleeves give it that “Ava DuVernay “style while the low V- neckline exudes a sexy look but nevertheless classy. This dress will also be a prefect transition from Spring to Summer. I will be wearing this dress a lot this Summer.

 The African Print Dress

As I mentioned in my introduction : I’m from Africa and as an African girl, you will be sure to find an array of ethnic African clothes in my closet. This kind of material is called Ankara  in some parts of Africa but in the DR Congo we call it “Liputa or Wax”. Most of our fabrics have bright, colorful hues with gorgeous ethnic motifs.

This dress from Kandes Couture (A Denver Congolese Designer)  is a typical “Liputa” fabric you would find in the DR Congo. The dress is very elegant, the low neck is subtly sexy. The lower back allows for more movement from the silhouette since the fabric is slightly rigid and dense compared to your normal fabrics.

The dress is great to wear to an African dowery/engagement, wedding, or any festive occasion. You will turn heads as you bring out inner African goddess vibe.
